Welcome to the Socio-technical Systems Engineering Lab!
We study design, development, and management of complex systems; primarily in defense, aerospace, and healthcare sectors. Our approach integrates systems engineering with microeconomics and data science to leverage socio-technical dependencies between organizational and product architectures for better decision-making. We specialize in conducting mixed-methods research with a strong empirical grounding for the research setting and refinement of our theoretical insights, often collaborating with leading organizations in their respective fields. Currently, our ongoing research thrusts are focused on:
- System architecture, decomposition theory, modularity, and flexibility
- Digital engineering and digital transformation
- Digital twins for management of safety-critical systems
- Design optimization for mission effectiveness
